Creative mentorship is a powerful tool for fostering inclusive artistic development, especially when working with young people with ID and/or neurodivergent. This module equips the learners with the knowledge and strategies to guide young artists through meaningful creative processes, while supporting their emotional and psychological growth. Grounded in the principles of Positive Psychology, the module emphasizes strength-based approaches that promote resilience, self-expression, and personal empowerment. Whether you are a cultural arts expert or a mental health professional, the following learning objectives will help you build mentorship practices that are empathetic, effective, and transformative.

The learning objectives of the module are:

  • Design mentorship strategies tailored to support artists with ID and/or neurodivergent using creative and psychological approaches.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Positive Psychology principles in mentoring relationships within artistic contexts.
  • Explain the role of creative mentorship in fostering autonomy, confidence, and artistic growth among young artists.

This training module is the preparatory phase for creative mentors who will support young artists as part of Work Package 4 (WP4) – the Cultural and Creative Model Programme. The knowledge and skills acquired through this module will be applied directly during mentoring activities and the implementation of the model programme in each living cultural hub.
